The 5W IR (1064 nm) laser is designed for metal marking/engraving with crisp detail and depth on most metals, including: stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass, titanium alloys, plated metals, anodized aluminum, gold, silver, and platinum.
F2 currently works exclusively with xTool Studio (formerly XCS). It does not support LightBurn at this time.
xTool Studio runs on Windows and macOS, and combines design, layout, parameter settings, and machine control in one beginner-friendly app.

Absolutely love this machine! I'm new to lasers and this has been so easy to learn and use. Made so many beautiful pieces already.
I have done a huge range of fabrication and ran professional prototyping shops. In all the equipment I have used over the years, Xtool might be the most streamlined and plug and play I have seen. Everything had proper care taken from packaging for shipping to the software. The laser itself feels well constructed and sturdy. The F2 bundle just has so many great accessories that it makes it extremely easy to laser a huge range of products. The software was very straight forward and easy to dive into with great tools built in like the test grid. The laser itself is as accurate as advertised and between the diode and IR, I have free roam to laser all kinds of materials. Such a great addition to my business. Looking forward to it paying for itself quickly and immediately looking at other Xtools products.
So I've had the f1 for 2 years and was happy with it but I wanted to open more options with my craft business the f2 has made that possible. Now I can offer on demand jewelry engraving and slate coasters which took too long to do at the craft fairs with the f1. Really looking forward to this upcoming season
The machine was smaller that I thought when I unpacked it. But boy the features, the ecosystem and the capabilities make up for it. I have larger lasers from other brands but this smaller laser is my go to, if it fits I use the F2. The software allows for experienced and new users to too see what others are doing and the material library takes a lot of the guess work out and reduces the amount of test pieces needed to achieve the best product. F2 is great Id love to expand my XTool lasers and see what they offer.
