K5 is our standard ultra-clear glass — great for surface engraving and compatible with the widest range of machines. K9 crystal is a higher optical grade, and we strongly recommend it if you're planning to inner-engrave: the extra clarity is what makes that 2D-to-3D effect look sharp. Just note inner engraving needs a UV laser like the F2 Ultra UV.
Every piece ships as a blank — polished, assembled, and with the base already attached where one's included. Nothing comes pre-decorated; the engraving or printing is entirely up to you.
For occasional outdoor use — handed out at a game, displayed at an event — the color holds up well, especially when you prime the surface with a UV-print primer beforehand. For pieces left in direct sun or weather long-term, some fading is normal for any UV-printed finish, so we'd recommend indoor display for keepsakes you want to last.
Wipe it down with alcohol first. Dust, oil, and fingerprints blur fine details and make results inconsistent — this shows up most on inner engraving, where even a light smudge can throw off the effect.
