It's huge, expensive, and it does things I never thought would be possible in a (semi) residential setting. I had the space and the available electrical supply to get this and had been looking at CNC plasma systems for a little less than half the cost. There is no way to compare this to plasma. The 2 things I mentioned - space and electricity - are obviously a big deal. But if you have them, this thing offers unreal precision. I'm primarily using clean sheet/plate metal in the 1-2mm range. Stainless is fantastic and I got immediate near perfect results with some sub-millimeter features coming through clear as day with no tweaks to the recommended settings and no dross. Aluminum seems to have more of a learning curve, but I got decent results after a couple passes. Bottom line is if you're investigating this thing, you probably have some idea what you're in for in terms of complexity and commitment, and yes, it does what it says, and I have zero regrets.
Other thoughts: Setup had only a minor issue with the drawer that I resolved with a screwdriver and a couple washers. The compressor for cutting is a must for any kind of volume unless you just have loads of argon sitting around.

The MetalFab is a very well designed and extremely well packaged. I was able to breakdown the pallets and uncage the CNC portion, by myself. I am looking forward to getting started with it soon, electrical connections.

I have used TIG, MIG, and gas for creating kinetic sculptures and used plasma cutting table. I have sold all that equipment and now use the MetalFab, it is clean, fast and precise. Draw it on the computer, cut it on the cnc, and weld. How I work is by assembling an idea have some pieces cut then weld to start a shape, then decide I need another shape, design, cut, weld in less than 15 minutes. I do have a second 1200W welder so I don't have to take apart the cnc to weld. I don't do production runs, I jump from one idea to another with no down time.
Much of the welding I have been doing is with tack welding for welding wire the thickness of paper clips to other wires and steel forms. So much easier than gas brazing the wires. Mechanical wire sculptures.
I have had the MetalFab for over 3 months and everyday I try new way of welding and creating and learning new operations. Way too much fun.
