The XTool® Advantage
XTool® Laptop Tracker's advance technology includes the following features:
Multiple Recovery Methods
XTool® Laptop Tracker is the only product that supports all the available recovery methods: Internet, Caller ID, WiFi, WebCam, GPS, Remote Forensic Tools.
Internet Connection Information is the most commonly used information utilized by "track and trace" products. In most situations, the Local IP and the Public IP information is enough to recover a lost or stolen laptop. Once it has been determined by our recovery team that this information is reliable, a tracking report is produced so that the police can subpoena the Internet service provider to obtain the contact information associated with the IP addresses. However, due to the increasing availability of “free” wireless Internet connections, this recovery method is not as reliable as it used to be and further methods are usually needed to be employed.
WiFi Connection Information Since there are so many sources of "free" wireless connections available today, it is easily assumed that a stolen laptop will be connected to one of these sources. WiFi information is used by the XTool® Laptop Tracker to make sure that the Internet information collected is reliable and that it can be used to obtain from the police a subpoena. This is an indispensible feature to the XTool® Laptop Tracker to ensure proper identification and recovery of your laptop.
Telephone Connection Information is one of the most reliable information used to recover lost or stolen laptops. If an unauthorized user connects your monitored laptop to a telephone line, the XTool® Laptop Tracker will place a call to a toll free number at our Monitoring Center. The Monitoring Center will then obtain the phone number used to place the call using ANI-Caller ID; even if the caller ID is blocked at the calling location! This option is ONLY installed and activated if the computer has been reported lost or stolen and with the owner WRITTEN authorization.
Remote Forensic Collection and HoneyPot Collected Information Using an advanced forensic collection tool, the XTool® Recovery Team is able to identify the unauthorized user (name, email, address, etc). This information is then transmitted via Internet or through a telephone connection. The main advantage of this technique is that it does not require a subpoena and has proven successful in cases where the primary tracking methods are not viable. This method can be used to speed up the recovery process when used in conjunction with the primary tracking methods. This technique is ONLY installed/activated when the monitored laptop has been reported lost or stolen and with owner WRITTEN authorization.
GPS (USB, Serial, Bluetooth or Internal) Information GPS is becoming more popular and some laptop manufacturers are even shipping units with a built-in GPS device. XTool® Laptop Tracker has the ability to detect any type of GPS device connected to the monitored laptop and relay this information to the XTool® Monitoring Center to track, and if needed, recover a reported lost or stolen laptop. By default, this option is deactivated. However, since the information collected by a GPS is useful even when the laptop has not been reported lost or stolen, the customer wishing to monitor GPS activity can activate this feature without filing a theft/loss report.
Camera (USB, Bluetooth or Internal) Information More and more laptops are now made with built-in cameras due to the higher availability of bandwidth and the increasing demand for more personalized contacts. XTool® Laptop Tracker has the ability to detect a camera connected to a laptop and can take a snapshot of the unauthorized user that is then relayed to the XTool® Monitoring Center! Since statistics show that approximately 90% of laptop theft is committed by insiders (friends, employees, colleagues, etc), a picture of the unauthorized user not only quickly leads to the location of the thief but can be used as evidence in case the laptop is sold to a 3rd party! This technique is ONLY installed/activated when the monitored laptop has been reported lost or stolen and with the owner WRITTEN authorization.
Undetectable
Unlike other tracking products , XTool® Laptop Tracker cannot be detected by anti-virus programs and can bypass 90% of all corporate and personal firewalls (Zone Labs, Norton & McAfee) with no pre-configuration necessary! XTool® Laptop Tracker will not affect your Laptop's performance or interfere with other applications. Now that is stealthy!
Smart Reportig Agent
Most "track and trace" products are not even designed to detect emergency situations. Some are only programmed to transmit a report aproximately every 24 hours. This means that if the laptop sent its last signal at 3:00 p.m. and then it is stolen at 4:00 p.m. the same day, the agent will not report its information until the next day; even is the thief connects to the Internet immediately. The XTool® Laptop Tracker Agent has been designed to trigger an alert to the XTool® Monitoring Center whenever an emergency situation is detected. For example, if the agent detects that the monitored laptop's location or name has changed, then our Monitoring Center will be alerted immediatly!
Compatibility
Full compatibility means being able to survive an upgrade or a downgrade to your computer without requiring any additional steps. Some products require the user to do a manual upgrade. For other BIOS based products, the user needs to upgrade the BIOS in order to maintain compatibility. Any kind of upgrade, whether it is from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 or any other combination for that matter is not a problem for our product. XTool® Laptop Tracker is not affected and neither is your laptop's security!
Smart Adaptability
It is easy to send a signal from your own network when you have provided the transmitter software with information (firewall address, user name, etc.), but what happens if you leave your network? What happens when you travel, or your laptop is stolen and used within a completely different environment, with different settings and configurations? The settings you provided will no longer work. But not with XTool®. XTool's unique Smart Adaptability is the key to an effective Laptop security system. XTool® is the only tracking system of its kind able to recognize the environment and configuration, adapting to each situation, always assuring that your laptop's signal is successful every time, from anywhere!
Secure Low-Bandwidth Agent
The XTool® Laptop Tracker Agent is small and uses encryption to transmit the collected data to the XTool® Monitoring Center.
Global Monitoring
XTool® Laptop Tracker utilizes worldwide Internet monitoring and unique dial-up monitoring coverage. The location of your laptop is visible whether your business takes you from state to state, or country to country. No matter where or when you travel, XTool® is tracking your laptop's footsteps.

As mobile workforces become the norm, laptops are increasingly used. This shift to mobilization has allowed workforces to become more flexible, but with this flexibility comes loss of control and security.
